In this field test an Idea- MirrorTM, a wall-sized, interactive touch screen that displays innovation ideas and features a scale for idea evaluation was compared with a state-of-the-art IT-based open innovation platform. Applying method triangulation and combining multiple, independent data sources it can be shown that ideas exhibited on the IdeaMirror have been invoked and rated significantly more often than on the IT platform. However, the idea ratings performed on the IT platform show a significantly higher concurrence with an independent expert jury. Implications for the use of IdeaMirrors in practice as well as for future research are deducted. To our knowledge this is one of the first studies that empirically investigate the purpose of publicly shared large screen displays for idea evaluation and supporting new product development."},{"title":"Idea Mirrors – Einsatz großer Wandbildschirme zur Förderung diskontinuierlicher Innovation in der Softwarebranche","type":"book_section","authors":[{"first_name":"Florian","last_name":"Ott"},{"first_name":"Michael","last_name":"Koch"}],"year":2008,"source":"Virtuelle Organisation und Neue Medien 2008: Workshop Gemeinschaften in Neuen Medien","pages":"241-252","publisher":"TU Dresden","city":"Dresden","editors":[{"first_name":"Klaus","last_name":"Meißner"},{"first_name":"Martin","last_name":"Engelin"}],"id":"b7820f1a-939f-31c1-8893-15e9a7bf7035","created":"2012-05-20T18:40:54.000Z","file_attached":true,"profile_id":"69734a65-795e-3e74-b390-3647f495e052","group_id":"19eab436-eeed-38e4-9c3a-2f5cbcce37b8","last_modified":"2017-03-14T12:19:08.218Z","tags":["Apreciation","Awareness","CommunityMirrors","IdeaMirror","Innovationsmanagement","Konzept","Large Screen"],"read":true,"starred":false,"authored":false,"confirmed":true,"hidden":false,"citation_key":"Ott2008a","private_publication":false,"abstract":"Die Nutzbarmachung des in den Köpfen von Mitarbeitern und Kunden schlummernden, disruptiven Ideenpotenzials stellt Unternehmen weiterhin vor eine große Heraus- forderung. In this chapter we present an approach, which helps to make information visible in a socio-technically integrated interactive way by using large touch screens or interactive projections in semi-public places. These socio-technical solutions help people to see, touch and experience digital content, and find information by chance without having to look for it explicitly. Intuitive presentation and interaction on large touch screens improve the visibility, awareness about what is happening in the underlying systems, and, last but not leastm the appreciation for information contributors. Easy access to federated activity streams of colleagues and other awareness information that is aggregated from different distributed intra- and extra-organizational systems become more and more important for the daily knowledge work. The increasing number of platforms every person uses requires a flexible data integration solution that keeps track of the connections between the pieces of information and the persons involved in their creation in order to create a unified and aggregated view for work groups, teams and communities. This unified data collection is especially important for social network analysis and data mining as individual profiles and activities are meanwhile typically distributed over various source systems. In this paper we present the CommunityMashup, a person-centric multi-user data integration solution for social software and similar systems that facilitates data aggregation and filtering while retaining the link to the pieces of information in the source systems. To support continuous evolution and flexible integration of frequently changing heterogeneous APIs and interfaces, we apply a model-driven development approach based on a therefore created person-centric data model. In addition to the conceptual design of the CommunityMashup, we present a reference implementation based upon open source components. Our overall goal is to build a multi-user mashup middleware for social software that offers an universal entry point in combination with unified data access for different client devices and can be used in various application scenarios with regard to individually specified service levels, e.g. continuous availability."}]
